Question 1.

Have you had any sailing experience or spent extended time at sea? Are you prone to seasickness, and if so, are you able to manage it during rough conditions?

Question 2.

This is a working yacht, and supporting the crew involves participating in various tasks, such as round-the-clock shifts during crossings, rostered cleaning duties, and some cooking. Are you willing and able to take part in these activities?

Question 3.

Water and other resources can be limited onboard at times, which may mean showers are only available every few days, with drinking water taking priority. This is something you will need to consider when onboard. Would you be comfortable managing these conditions?

Question 4.

Sleeping quarters are quite tight, with bunk beds in close proximity to other expeditioners for the duration of the trip. Are you comfortable living in close quarters with others for this period? We recommend bringing earplugs and noise-cancelling headphones — would this work for you?

Question 5.

What is the main focus of your journey — wildlife, underwater exploration, scenery, or visiting Antarctica? Our expedition will focus on photography and seeking every opportunity to get in the water, with many locations chosen for their wildlife hotspots or unique photo and filming opportunities. Does this align with your goals for the trip?

The expedition team is usually a diverse group of people with a wide range of interests and backgrounds. Could you share a bit about yourself and what draws you to this journey?

Question 7.

Weather plays a huge role in shaping our experience, and planned itineraries often need to change, sometimes daily. How do you handle ongoing changes and situations that are beyond your control?

Question 8.

South Georgia is a specially protected environment with strict rules and regulations to keep it pristine. Before and during the expedition, you’ll need to read site guidelines to understand where you can go and which areas have restrictions. You’ll also be required to participate in biosecurity measures for each excursion to prevent contamination. Do you agree to follow these terms?

Question 9.

We’ll have the ability to charge batteries and devices, but to accommodate the entire team’s needs, we may need to set up a rotation system. Please provide a list of any items you plan to bring that may require higher voltage. This will help us plan for the right generators.

Question 10.

Due to the unique nature of the expedition and the 20 hours of daylight, mealtimes are flexible, as we may be observing wildlife events during typical meal hours. However, there is plenty of food available for those who prefer to graze throughout the day. If you have specific dietary needs or require more structured mealtimes, we are happy to accommodate you. Please let us know your preferences.

Question 11.

Space on board this sailing boat is very limited, you will be limited to 2 duffle bags (up to 150L size) and a backpack to bring all you need. Is this manageable? (Hard cases for transporting camera gear etc can be stored in Peurto Williams)
